Fellowship Project

Ms. Leng Hanzhang will spend 6 months at the Tokyo National Museum in Japan, where she will participate in the “e-museum” project and study its underlying HD digital image resources governed by the country’s sophisticated laws. Her research will focus on the entire process of developing, collating and utilizing digital collections of paintings and calligraphy, as well as the scope of openness and the concepts of museum digital management.

Biography

Ms. Leng Hanzhang graduated from the Institute of Photography of Beijing Film Academy. She is currently a researcher on the photography team in the Department of IT, Imaging and Digital Media at the Palace Museum. Specializing in digitization, Ms. Leng is primarily responsible for the operation and development of “Painting Masterpieces in the Palace Museum Collection” (故宮名畫記), an HD digital display of the museum’s Chinese painting and calligraphy collection. She also creates knowledge graph visualisation for the collection.

Recent Development and Achievement

    Ms. Leng has in recent years focused on creating knowledge graph visualization for the museum’s Chinese painting and calligraphy collection. In the near future, she plans to develop and experiment with new functionality and content for the “Painting Masterpieces in the Palace Museum Collection” website.
