Fellowship Project
Prof. Dou will visit the British Museum in the UK for 8 months (January – August 2026) to conduct a research project titled “Research on the Exhibition Path of Northern Chinese bronzes in the British Museum”. The project aims to investigate the Northern Chinese bronzes in the British Museum’s collection, and to explore the curatorial practice at the museum.
Biography
Prof. Dou Haifeng is currently a professor, doctoral supervisor, and Vice Dean of the School of Cultural Heritage at Northwest University. His research interests encompass the archaeology of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties as well as ancient Chinese bronzes. He received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from Jilin University in 2006, 2008, and 2011 respectively, and went to the University of Thessaly in Greece in 2015 with the support of the China Scholarship Council.
Recent Development and Achievement
In addition to teaching, Prof. Dou has been conducting archaeological research on the evolution of civilization on the Loess Plateau and the origin of Zhou culture in recent years. He has presided over a number of archaeological excavations, including the Xitou site in Xunyi, Shaanxi Province, which won the top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country in 2022. On the basis of archaeological research, Prof. Dou continues to explore the popularization and dissemination of cultural heritage knowledge, and actively plans exhibitions such as “Searching for the Bin“.
