Eligibility

  1. Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Chinese art history, archaeology, museology and conservation.
  2. Proficiency in language of the destined country is required.
  3. There is no restriction regarding the nationality of applicants.


Terms of Award

  1. The Fellowship fund covers round-trip airfare and living expense during the period of the attachment.
  2. Applicants should apply for attachments ranging from four to twelve months.
  3. The Programme does not fund formal study and travel.

Application Procedure

  1. Before submitting the application, applicants should find and contact a prospective hosting institution from the list of Participating Institutions to arrange an attachment.
  2. Applicants can obtain the contact information of his/her prospective hosting institution by submitting a written request to the Project Co-ordinatior of the J. S. Lee Memorial Fellowship Programme via email or by fax.
  3. Applicants should submit a proposal for the attachment and his/her curriculum vitae to the proposed museum for consideration.
  4. Two recommendation letters are required. “Recommendation Form” can be downloaded at our website. Confidential recommendations must send to our office directly from the referees.
  5. Applicants should download and complete the “Application Form” available online at the website.
  6. Hard copies of completed Application form and Recommendation form should be submitted (by post) to the J. S. Lee Memorial Fellowship Programme Office before the application deadline.

  7. Please note that all applications should be submitted in English or Chinese. Late submission by fax or e-mail will NOT be considered. Confirmation e-mail will be sent to acknowledge receipt of the application.


Selection

  1. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview at their home country shortly after the deadline.
  2. The announcements of awards will be made in June every year.


Regulation in Application

  1. The Fellowship Programme begin within one year after the award has been made. Any changes in an awardees’ plan of fellowship differing from the application must have prior written approval of the Programme Committee.
  2. Within three months of concluding the work undertaken under the tenure of the fellowship, the recipient must submit a written report on the work accomplished.
